Thank you for visiting my committee’s website. It is a great honor to serve as a Judge representing our diverse community. I hope you will take the opportunity to learn more about my background and contact me if you would like to learn more about our justice system.

Judicial elections are very important. Cook County has one of the largest unified court systems in the world. Judges are responsible for ensuring that all Cook County residents – regardless of background – have equal access to justice. Judges can also have great impact on the safety of our city and our neighborhoods. I would deeply appreciate your support in the March 20, 2018 Democratic Primary so that I can continue to serve our community with integrity as a Judge.

– Judge Kent Delgado

Kent Delgado was appointed Judge in Cook County by the Illinois Supreme Court on January 4, 2017. He is currently assigned to the Probate division where he presides over cases involving the administration of decedents’ estates, the creation and administration of adult guardianship estates, and the creation and administration of minor guardianship estates. He has been a licensed attorney for over 20 years.

Before becoming a Judge, Kent Delgado was engaged in the private practice of law as a litigation and transactional attorney for the past ten years. He spent those years establishing his own legal practice in a variety of legal areas. After setting up the practice in 2007, he built an office in a neighborhood storefront on the corner of Western and Augusta in Humboldt Park/Ukrainian Village where he served his neighbors. His practice concentrated on criminal defense, traffic, immigration, probate, and real estate. Kent defended individuals’ rights in many complex cases. Over these years he developed other areas of practice by assisting his neighbors as they came to him for help. Helping people from the neighborhood with a variety of legal issues provided him with a well-rounded base of legal knowledge. His vast experience and legal knowledge earned him a reputation as other attorney’s first phone call when they were faced with unique and difficult legal issues. Many of his colleagues have praised him for his willingness to assist and mentor other attorneys.

Before forming his firm, Mr. Delgado was one of the top trial attorneys with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. There he was appointed lead counsel on complex criminal cases and took hundreds of cases to trial. For over a decade he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney where he prosecuted violent crimes including murder and domestic violence. He prosecuted over 70 jury trials and received the Constance Morris House Award for commitment and service to domestic violence victims. Mr. Delgado has been endorsed by the 47th Ward Democratic Organization and has received the Judicial Award by the Cook County Bar Association. He has experience in a wide variety of legal areas and received unanimously positive evaluations from the bar associations.
